Violet & Chris Wedding Stationery
For Violet and Chris's wedding at Jardin du Soleil Lavender Farm in Sequim, Washington, I created an original watercolor illustration as the centerpiece of their stationery suite: a small white butterfly resting delicately on a sprig of blooming lavender. The painting uses soft, translucent washes of lavender, green, and white, letting the colors blend and bleed naturally into one another for a light, airy feel.
The butterfly's wings are rendered with fine detail against the looser, more atmospheric background, creating a sense of quiet movement and grace. The goal was to capture something calming, elegant, and pure, echoing the actual fields of the venue itself.
That artwork became the foundation for the color palette and a two-piece wedding stationery suite:
Save the Date:
A clean, script-led design that leads with elegant calligraphy for "Save the Date" over a soft watercolor wash. The couple's names and key details (date, venue, location) sit below in a simple serif, keeping the card airy and uncluttered so the typography and color do the talking.
Formal Invitation:
The full butterfly-and-lavender illustration moves front and center here, placed alongside sweeping calligraphy for "Violet and Chris." Ceremony details, including time, address, and reception note, are set in a refined serif beneath, giving the piece a more traditional, formal structure while still feeling soft and romantic.
