For years in the design world, I found myself trapped in a cycle: juggling 20+ demands, fighting tight budgets, and wading through busywork most days.

I would sacrifice much-needed breaks just to keep up and manage the workload. (See image proof!) Most people and large industries I've seen are hyper-focused on short-term outcomes, deadlines, and just making things "look pretty".
But I value the process, meaningful intentions, and the big-picture goal.
And I want to help build something unique, impactful, and real that speaks to people at their core.
Then of course, AI arrived and markets shifted.
We all can eat the "visual salad," but what do we get from it?
In this age of mass production, anyone can generate a layout, image, logo, or any concept in seconds. But, some take it too seriously. Corporate entities and business executives are celebrating saving a buck on creative fees, and your friends are turning all the casual photos of themselves into silly Disney caricatures in seconds.
But if you look closely, that AI asset crumbles. The backgrounds don't make sense, the layouts and styles are inconsistent, and it leaves you feeling off. That's because it's not real; their's nothing human about what you're seeing. (Not to mention AI generated images can't be licensed!)
It’s all showmanship, an empty conglomeration of loud things that aren’t actually saying anything. It’s like a visual salad made of ultra-processed images with no nutritional value. We all can consume, feel nothing, then scroll right by because it looks identical to everything else.
People ask me"What's your take on how AI impacts your work?"
My opinion: AI taking over the cheap asset market is the best thing that has ever happened.
Yep, that's right! I appreciate that AI filters out the noise, leaving experienced designers and creatives with the space to focus and find the clients who actually care. And those caring clients stand out from the rest, because they have that intention of making something that speaks to their audience in a deeper, real kind of way.
Why Opal Essence Finery?
While a lot of graphic designers live solely on the computer, but I work a bit differently. For me, my work is rooted in traditional illustrative techniques, a passion for printed media, and execution in digital graphic design. By integrating hand-crafted, traditional illustration directly into my design work, I bring a sense of realism, depth, and grounded artistry that a computer has a hard time replicating. And no, I don't use AI image generation in my work, however, I do use it for creating mockups.
I focus heavily on custom illustration and the print production side of branding. In a hyper-digital world overflowing with temporary screen-glare, print media offers a tangible, undeniable connection. A custom-illustrated menu at a neighborhood café or an eye-catching event flyer shapes a someone's first impression the moment they step through your door. I focus on the fine print, both literally and figuratively to support and build a strong community presence for those businesses that care.

The bridge between idea and reality
With my background in print production, I act as the bridge between your ideas and the physical world. I partner with local printers to streamline the entire experience for you; from initial concept and hand-drawn illustration, all the way to final press and production!
I’m in it every step of the way, personally ensuring that the paper stock, ink quality, and final finishes live up to my high standards before the final piece is ever handed to you.
All this to say...
If you need a thoughtless graphic by yesterday, feel free to use AI and see how it goes. But if you're ready to take a step back, lead with intention, and bring a soul back into your brand... Welcome!
It's your vision, beautifully grounded: Where intentional design meets custom illustration.
Let’s make something real.
